Trial Guides Digital Marketing: Our Story

Trial Guides Digital Marketing grew from decades of proven success as a trusted legal publishing resource and eCommerce company marketing to lawyers. After 20 years of building our legal brand, our team recognized a significant gap: attorneys needed specialized website and SEO support from experts who truly understand the nuances of legal practices and diverse business goals.

With over two decades of experience in the legal industry, we know that every law firm is unique. With deep insight into the challenges attorneys face—and firsthand knowledge of the limitations of generic marketing agencies—we set out to build a boutique, full-service digital marketing firm tailored specifically for lawyers.

Since launching our legal marketing agency in 2021, we’ve helped clients attract higher-quality leads, secure cases aligned with their goals, and achieve superior Google rankings over their competitors. We are proud of our growth and accomplishments, and honored to share another phenomenal success story on behalf of one of our clients.

The Project: A Trucking Accident Attorney in a Saturated Market

This client came to us with an all-too-common problem: after years of work as a personal injury attorney with a general personal injury focus, he noticed his web inquiries and calls dropping off. Curious about this trend, he looked into the situation and discovered that valuable keyword searches for which he had been organically ranking—location-based searches for "personal injury lawyer," "trucking accident lawyer," "injury truck attorney" and others—now displayed multistate firms, sponsored ads and AI content. The competition had buried him. Some were even paying for his name.

The attorney reached out to Trial Guides Digital Marketing for assistance in boosting website traffic and generating more trucking-client leads. He asked us to refine his online strategy and target only high-value cases involving a specific set of injuries, as well. After partnering with TGDM, he began receiving two SEO-optimized content pieces each month.

Project Challenges

Saturated Market

While the sudden drop in traffic surprised our client, it was no surprise to us: between Google’s ever-changing algorithms and keywords that regularly cost $200-300 per click, Google's Page 1 has become out of reach for most sole-practitioner firms. In a highly competitive and saturated market, it is simply becoming more difficult to stand out amongst the crowd of great content on high-ranking websites.

SEO Optimization of Existing Content

Although the client’s website contained dozens of blog posts covering topics from trucking accidents to insurance bad faith, much of his existing content was not optimized for search engine visibility. The client’s writing, while exhaustive and scholarly, was simply too technical for Google’s algorithm to rank highly for the specific case types the firm was targeting. Our initial focus involved updating or creating effective metadata and image alt text, improving the site’s internal linking structure, and conducting a comprehensive toxic backlink analysis.

Strategy

We started by changing the headline tags on many of his pages including the front page and practice area pages.  This resulted in a remarkably quick improvement in potential client calls.  Next we turned to cleaning up the client’s website for toxic links and improving his existing content to reach more readership.

Then our content team set to work. The first step with every content project is to learn about the subject matter, analyze the client’s competitors, and conduct exhaustive research into keywords that are relevant, popular and achievable for the client. Because of this client’s experience and expertise, and his existing content, we felt confident going after some “hail Mary” keywords that are difficult to rank highly for on Google.

In terms of individual content topics, we focused specifically on the target keyword or phrase. Instead of targeting “truck lawyer,” for example, we wrote a series of blogs with a more niched keywords focus. Some examples:

SEO Results

Within the first three months, traffic to both new and updated content increased just as anticipated; we saw noticeable spikes in engagement beginning within six months of starting the project. By October, the client’s average website traffic had nearly doubled compared to the previous year; the client also observed a steady rise in calls and inquiries coming through the website.

As keywords began to climb, so did the client’s traffic (website visitors) and traffic cost (the estimated average monthly cost to rank for organic keywords in Google Ads). The law firm obtained several cases expected to exceed $1,000,000.   By mid-May of 2025, the law firm was reaching more than 12,000 people per month, with a traffic cost value of $188,200 per month. This is the amount this firm would have to pay for Pay-per-Click advertising each month in order to obtain these results. With continued work, by June 2025 the law firm was receiving over 1,000,000 views per month, with a traffic cost value of over $400,000 per month.

Truck Accident-Related Traffic

With the success of a single blog, published about eight months earlier, the client began organically ranking in location-based searches for highly competitive keyword phrases. These include "trucking accident lawyer” and "injury truck attorney", for which our content was featured as the top result. He ranked on Page 1 for "truck crash lawyer" (#3), "trucking accident lawyer (#4)", and "truck accident lawyer" (#5). A month later he was #1 in each of these searches for his state, and on Page 1 throughout the United States for trucking lawyers.  Each of these phrases would cost $250-350 per click in this area if the client was paying Google for PPC.

If our client were to have paid for ad space on the top pages appearing for these keywords, he would have needed to spend  $400,000 per month.

Competition from National Law Firms

As law firms are becoming private equity ventures and multi-state law firms dominate Page 1 results, digital marketing is now a necessary component for any small law firm’s success. As this client knows: publishing regular, targeted, high-value content is key to competing in an ever-growing and saturated market.

True to form, our client is ready to take on the next challenge. When our content director messaged him with his phenomenal results he said simply:  “Let's keep going. We are going to dominate this area for great cases.”
